GT06 and GT02 trackers: the adminip command that actually works
Two SMS, then about twelve minutes. The thing nobody tells you: on the cheap clones, only the numeric IP works — the hostname command is accepted and ignored.
Dozens of vehicles in service on GT06-protocol hardware
Server: trackers.moongpstracker.com (169.58.68.140), TCP. Some firmware refuses domain names — then use the IP.
What it is
The GT06 is a Concox design (GT06N, GT06E) that has been cloned by a long list of factories and sold as "GT02", "mini GPS tracker", or under no brand at all. What they share is the GT06 binary protocol and, mostly, the SMS command set below.
They are cheap, wired to the vehicle supply, and very common on scooters and mopeds. Build quality varies wildly between clones; the protocol does not.
What you need
A data SIM in the device, and the APN string for that SIM
The SIM's phone number for the two SMS below
The device IMEI, printed on the case or under the battery
APN examples
The APN belongs to the SIM, not to the tracker. These are the two we use ourselves:
1NCE: iot.1nce.net
Truphone: iot.truphone.com
On both, the APN username and password are empty — which is the usual case on IoT SIMs.
If your SIM comes from a mobile operator, ask them for all three values.
SMS commands
Send both SMS from any phone, in this order, without leading spaces. 123456 is the factory password — replace it if you have changed yours.
Set the APN (replace <APN> with your SIM APN)
APN123456 <APN>
Most IoT SIMs need no APN username or password. If yours does, the device usually takes them as two extra space-separated fields after the APN.
Point it at Moon — numeric IP, not the hostname
adminip123456 169.58.68.140 5023
The device answers with an acknowledgement SMS and reconnects on its own. Expect the first position in Moon in around twelve minutes, not immediately.
GT02-protocol units only
adminip123456 169.58.68.140 5022
A minority of units sold as GT02 speak the gt02 protocol rather than gt06. If port 5023 stays silent for a device that acknowledged the command, try 5022 — it is the same command with the other port.
After the device is configured it turns up in Unknown devices in the Moon
panel — or straight on your map, if you registered its identifier first. The first position
normally lands within minutes.
What Moon shows you
Live position, speed and full trip history with stops and addresses
Ignition state and vehicle power, on units wired to the ignition line
Engine cut and release on units with a relay output, where the installation supports it
External supply voltage and the device's own backup battery
What it does not do
Clones vary: two devices with the same label can report different fields. What Moon shows is what the device actually sends.
No CAN data, no fuel sensors — this class of hardware does not read them.
Which values arrive depends on the device and the installation, never on your licence:
every Moon account has the whole platform.

Gotchas
The things that cost us time on real vehicles, written down so they do not cost you any.
The hostname command is a dead end on clones (verified)
The documented dns123456 <hostname> 5023 command is accepted by the clones and does nothing. We checked this properly rather than assuming: on delivered SMS and on five GPRS commands, zero effect — the device kept reporting to its old server.
adminip123456 with the numeric IP works every time. That is why every example on this page uses 169.58.68.140 and not the hostname.
SERVER,… is a different protocol's command
GT06 units do not accept the SERVER,666666,… syntax. That belongs to TK103-family devices — if you have a mixed fleet, sending the wrong family's command is the usual reason a batch of devices "did not migrate".
Give it twelve minutes before you worry
A GT06 that has acknowledged adminip does not jump servers instantly: in our migrations the first position lands in Moon after roughly twelve minutes. If nothing has arrived after half an hour, re-check the APN.
Factory password
The commands on this page use the factory password (123456). A tracker left on its factory password can be reconfigured by anyone who knows its SIM number. Change it, or use SIMs that cannot receive SMS from outside numbers — the 1NCE and Truphone SIMs we ship are set up that way.
Concox GT06 and GT02 clones: questions we get asked
Why do you use the IP and not the hostname?+
Because on the GT06 clones the hostname command is silently ignored. We verified it on delivered SMS and on five GPRS commands with no effect. The IP 169.58.68.140 is stable, published in public DNS as trackers.moongpstracker.com, and is what the hardware actually honours.
The device acknowledged the command but nothing shows up.+
First wait twelve minutes — that is normal for this hardware. Then check the APN: an adminip that landed with a wrong APN gives you exactly this symptom, because the device has a server but no data connection. Finally try port 5022, in case the unit speaks gt02 rather than gt06.
Is my "mini GPS tracker" from a marketplace a GT06?+
Very often, yes — GT06 is the most cloned tracker protocol there is. If it responds to APN123456 and adminip123456, it is. Send us the model and we will tell you before you buy a fleet of them.
Can I cut the engine from Moon on a GT06?+
On units with a relay output and an installation wired for it, yes. The command is role-gated and logged. Because clones differ, we confirm on your actual hardware rather than promising it from a datasheet.
Two ways to go from here
Send the commands yourself and register the device in the panel, or tell us what you have
and we will confirm what it can do on Moon before you commit to anything.
